Opened in 1909, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway is one of the oldest race tracks in America and features two of America’s biggest races, the Brickyard 400 and the Indianapolis 500.
This past weekend, I photographed the Brickyard 400, NASCAR’s yearly trip to the historic track.
Gateway International Raceway, located just outside of St. Louis in Madison, Ill., decided to move both its NASCAR Nationwide Series and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series events to the same weekend.
This isn’t too unusual, but after a power outage on Friday night, NASCAR delayed the truck series race till Saturday, setting up two races just hours apart with some drivers logging 450 miles in both events combined in 96 degree heat.
This past weekend I was in Joliet, Ill. for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Lifelock.com 400 and NASCAR Nationwide Series Dollar General 300 at Chicagoland Speedway. Both races had some slow parts, but overall they both had excitement toward the end.
Well, my 2010 motorsports calendar is going by fast, so here’s a quick recap of some of the races and places I’ve been:
Shot for an upcoming publication, Dinosaurs Unearthed is a traveling exhibit that features animatronic dinosaurs and is currently at the St. Louis Science Center.
Shot for a home magazine, these pictures were created over the course of two days at the Lake of the Ozarks. The Lake is a 55,000 acre lake in Missouri that has many high priced homes and entertainment centers along the shores.
The first picture was shot from a small prop plane, flying at about 500 feet at the slowest speed we could safely fly. The others were shot on the patio of this million dollar home.
The magazine should be on newsstands soon so I hope to share more pictures from the article then.
Congrats to 2009 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Champion Jimmie Johnson on his record fourth straight title.
November 9, 2009 marked the 20 year anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. Westminster College, home to a large section of the original wall, marked the occasion by toppling a wall members of the community and students painted and made.
The event was to symbolize the falling of the wall and included a few speakers and other festivities.
I shot this weekends Mizzou game versus Baylor, unfortunately Mizzou lost… but it was great weather. Only one more home game left this season…
Each year I have the pleasure of shooting the week long Kingdom of Callaway County Fair, one of the most attended events in Callaway County.
Here are a few shots from the fair. This past year I changed my stratagy, moving away from capturing everything, and then selling them online, and more towards capturing the “moments of the fair.” The pictures I shoot are then used for marketing, advertisements, etc.
